A fly in your soup never sounded so good!
Created by William Roehm III and Matthew Farden
You and your friends have just been invited to an exclusive food tasting for a television show at a local restaurant in town.
As your group sits down, the host of the evening approaches your table. He offers you and your friends an “opportunity” to win lots of cash in a secret backroom competition. Your group agrees and he leads you to the back room away from the public.
A small crowd of people circle around an old table and chairs. The host directs you and your group to take a seat. As the door locks behind your group, you start to get goosebumps. This is not going to be any run-of-the-mill competition.
Knife Fight - Season 1 (2013)
Fear Factor + Silent Library + Knife Fight = Trojan Course
Imagine you and your friends were presented with the best looking meal that you all have ever witnessed in your entire life. You were told that if you could finish that dish, you would have the chance to win big cash prizes! Of course the first thing you would think is that there would be a catch. This my friend… is Trojan Course!
What’s a Trojan Course?
We Start With Something Yummy
A Trojan Course always starts with a dish that you would never expect to scare you. Vanilla Jell-O is a great example of something that would always bring a smile to your face.
We Add Something a Bit Nasty
What if we decided to change up the recipe and add MAGGOTS to the recipe? I heard that they are a viable source of protein. We are sure that nobody will notice.
We Make It Look Amazing
The best Trojan Courses are the ones that look the most irresistible. Let’s top off our Maggot Pudding with whipped cream and a cherry to make it look inviting!
Tarantula Tempura
Leech Lava Cake
Beef Pizzle Chowder
A Trojan Course is a dish that any normal person wouldn't be able to stomach…
Just like a Trojan Horse, a Trojan Course is a meal that looks appealing on the outside, but always contains a nasty surprise within.
Here’s the catch!
The Trojan Courses will be mixed in with regular dishes! Each round the contestants will be shown a plate of food and will have 30 seconds to decide if they will eat or pass on the dish.
Here are a few rules about PASSES as well:
1) Each Contestant will only have 3 Passes Total!
2) Each Contestants cannot Pass two dishes in a row!
3) All Contestants cannot Pass on the FINAL ROUND!
THE TENTH AND FINAL ROUND WILL ALWAYS BE A TROJAN COURSE!!!
SHOW FORMAT
Each round, the contestants are presented with a single dish with an elegant sounding description:
–“Mango-infused gelato with dragon fruit swirl and fried pineapple chips”
–“Butter-poached beef brisket with port-wine reduction”
Each Contestant will be given 30 seconds to vote to PASS or to eat the course presented to them. The Contestants can do the following during this time:
–Walk around the table to observe the dish at all angles.
–Smell the dish.
–Speculate the contents of the dish with the other contestants.
Note: They are prohibited to touch the dish!
Any Contestants that did not pass on the dish are brought the same dish and are given a set amount of time to eat the meal.
As the contestants begin eating, the host reveals if the dish is a Trojan Course and also any fun surprise the dish holds.
All contestants that finish the dish will move onto the next round.
Any contestants who got sick or could not finish the dish within the time limit are eliminated and removed from the table.
